| The environment for Database and Applications under Windows NT | |
mvBase is an evolving environment for Databaseapplications Multidimensional Database Systems like PICK, VMARK, uniVerse, SEQUOIApro and other "PICK-similar" Systems have been focussed since to real business-applications. They are all high-velocity Database-Systems, working very economically with your computer-resources and easy to handle with. Most of these Systems contain a very evolved dialect of BASIC, a type of selecting "Script-language". That makes "ad hoc" - selections very easy, without much Programcode. Due to restricted resources of earlier Computergenerations most systems contained only few options of graphical dataprocessing. Neither graphical user-interface nor graphical presentation of data were possible. |
mvBase is filling this gap and enlarges your System with many functions. mvBase is not only a processing environment for new applications, it is additional a simple and fast opportunity to convert old applications to a new and modern basis. In most cases the old programs have to be compiled again to use all options of Windows NT. The user can face the dialog he is used to and former investments are not lost. |

mvBase contains all the tools for the development of a graphical interface, e. g. C++ or VisualBasic. While enlarging the language BASIC all Windows Files can be read or written. That includes newer hardware like CD-ROM-Drives. One of the greatest innovations is the option to work with Liberty/ODBC-driver. This driver is one of the best implementations of the Microsoft Standard on the market. You can read and write your data in Windows applications like Microsoft Excel, VisualBasic, SQL Server, COGNOS Impromptu, Access, FoxPro and many others. The results e. g. the graphical presentation of your data are nearly unlimited. mvBase contains in connection with Windows NT many tools for the Systemmanagement which make the System safer. With the "transaction logging" the losts of data while sudden System-shutdown will be minimized. The flexibility of these System allows you fully freedom configurating your network. Printer and other periphericals can be spread over the whole network. |

Users can be connected over serial ports to terminals or bound with PC-Workstations over network. A TELNET-driver allows using one of the many terminal-emulations on the market, they are still included in the System. You also can use a PC as virtual Terminalserver to help the Database-Server. mv.Base is a Windows NT Application but supports even Windows 95/98. |
